Starting a cadet corps in your school

Cadet corps operate in basic, secondary and tertiary institutions. Each corps needs at least sixty members, a patron from the teaching staff and the approval of the head of the institution.

  1. Contact your regional coordinator

Reach the regional cadet headquarters at your Regional Education Office (bonoeast@cadetcorps.gov.gh) to express interest and confirm current requirements.

  2. Get approval and appoint a patron

The head of the institution approves the corps and names a staff patron who will be responsible for cadets.

  3. Choose a unit

Select Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Fire, Customs or Immigration cadets, in consultation with the coordinator and the sponsoring service.

  4. Recruit at least sixty cadets

Enrol students with parental consent and keep a register of members.

  5. Register online

Fill in the school registration form. Your reference number and the regional office's review follow, then the school appears on the NCCG Portal.

  6. Train and inaugurate

Instructors take the corps through drill and foundation training, followed by an inauguration ceremony.

Requirements may change. Always confirm with your regional coordinator before you begin.
